Sketches and first drafts
The top three images are the initial outlines and sketches of the honey dripping. I started with the idea of a honey dipper in the composition and the honey dripping from it. The next row are designs for the second quote. It was focused on typography rather than illustration. I used two different type faces and a yellow background to give the illusion of honey and sweetness as it was used in the quote. The last row are the sketches of how I wanted the illustration I wanted. I played with the idea of a honeycomb pattern or the honey dipper. I ultimately decided on the honey dipper.
