Today’s class was reserved for a test. The students are taking the test in class and are responsible for submitting their work at the end of class. I believe, and there was some confusion on my end, that the work leading up to the students final answer for each problem would be more heavily weighted then just the answer. This is done because the process is just as important, if not more so, then the answer. Also, because of the online format, I am assuming this is done to help prevent cheating. If a student can not provide how they came to an answer, or if too many students have the exact same formatted work, it is possible that cheating has occurred. Ultimately, because of the test there was no need for me to actually observe the course.
Hi Kelly,
The exam scoring format seems standard. I like this method of grading however I do get frustrated when points are taken off for typos or mini mistakes even though the final answer is correct.
