Philosophy

Fashion is more than dresses and shoes, patterns and trends. Clothing has the power to transform the individual by communicating overt or covert messages to the viewer, like any other art form.

At City Tech, the focus of our program is to provide students with a solid foundation in understanding the contemporary fashion industry as well as researching historical dress and textiles. The new Textile Lab also creates a space for students to explore hands-on materials and techniques including weaving, spinning, sewing, dyeing and printing.

“Fashion is very important. It is life-enhancing and, like everything that gives pleasure, it is worth doing well.”

-Vivienne Westwood

“Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.”

-Gianni Versace
