The OpenLab is an open-source, digital platform designed to support teaching and learning at City Tech (New York City College of Technology), and to promote student and faculty engagement in the intellectual and social life of the college community.
For our short film we wanted to make a comedy horror movie. So the story will start with either dileydi or Sapphire as the person who loves ice cream more then anything even her own best friend so the first location will be the seating area on ground floor and the shot will be in color, the person is so happy to get her ice cream, as she go to get her ice cream she get kidnapped by me b/c I will be the jigsaw killer helper and I will put her into the horror game. The location that will work best, is in the classroom b/c the table and the black curtain will go well with the camera being in black and white color. The jigsaw doll rolls in which will be Maggie as the doll, telling the person will u choose ur best friend or the ice cream that she love so much to live, we will make it out as she will pick her friend but at the end she pick the ice cream but come to find out the ice cream was fake and the jigsaw killer is her friend testing her loyalty but she fail and she get locked up forever.
In class Maggie and I wanted to make the film a comedy horror movie. I was the one who came up with the idea of the two location and how one scene will be in color and the other in black and white. Maggie was the one who wanted someone to dress as the jigsaw doll which will be her, I was the one that wanted to make the illusion of Maggie riding a bike like the doll does in the movie since we don’t have a bike. I also said at the end when the killer closes the door we should use the split lighting on the killer. I also want to add that we should use the Rembrandt lighting on Maggie and use the jump cuts when I am caring the person into the class and tying up the person and friend up.
So, who’s bringing the ice-cream? Aren’t we using the rembrandt lighting for the fake ice-cream cone?

First of all, someone (some people) in the group should post the summary of what you discussed in class last week. Then, it will become clear to me , your teammates, and the other group what your initial plans are. Remember, only one of the two groups can stay at AG38 at a time. So, there is some planning involved there, too. The group with better planning will complete all the requirements and will do better. Hopefully, both groups will do well.
I agree with you Dileydi. Brandon and I were talking about making our Project like the new SAW movie. it will be more funny rather then horror. someone will have to be the puppet from the movie and one person can be the main actor, and lastly the rest can be the guys with a mask or hoodie. i will bring the ice cream prop. if everyone can bring a black hoodie that would be great. This is simple yet funny cameo that we can do and fits well with the type of lighting that we need to incorporate. if you guys have any questions or comments let me know.
Hi guys! So for this project and based on our previous conversation in class, I think that we could use the split light and the butterfly in one scene.
The split light will be used when the main character has to make the decision of the ice-cream vs his/her friend.
When he looks to the right which will be lighted, we’ll get a shot of the ice-cream all in light and when he looks to the left, (dark side) his friend will captured by the bad guy (monster) (whatever), and we’ll use the butterfly light.
