Team Project

For the midterm project, my team is making an augmented reality comic for kids (ages 8-10) about pollution & marine life. When they point their phone/tablet’s camera at the comic book, each illustration will reveal an animated 3D environment. We’re not sure which direction we’re going in yet, but we came up with 2 options:

  1. Each comic panel unlocks a minigame: searching for trash in the ocean, saving the turtles, etc.
  2. The 3D animations are telling a story about how our litter ends up in the oceans, gets consumed by fish, and then we catch and serve those fish in restaurants.

Team roles:

Kiara: drawing the comic

Anthony: C# and UI design

Bryan: sound design and Unity

Ekemini (me): AR Foundation and level design

HW #1

I’m really drawn to using XR to explore the impossible. Virtual reality lets you step into a painting, fight as a god (Journey of the Gods), travel to far away destinations or timelines, see the world through another person’s eyes… I honestly can’t wait until more people start seeing it for its full potential and it finally blows up. I’m also in love with art installations (and other digital experiences, even video games) that make you feel like part of something bigger, such as Journey (thatgamecompany), Where Thoughts Go, Journey of the Gods and Tilt Brush.
