The course makes use of lectures illustrated by images of selected artworks, class discussions, and a visit the student must make on their own to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Cloisters in Manhattan, or the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Students will be expected to write a paper dealing with original works of art they have looked at in person.
