Many students choose New York City College of Technology to wide their knowledge. Students spend considerable of their times on campus life but do not know that they can get benefits with their student ID in various ways. Our mission is to maximize City Tech students and other current students ‘ welfare through this project.

On the first day of the project, Rony Noel, Changkyun Sin, Xue Min Pan, and Sunghak Kang formed a group and discussed what specific task that we want to do for this project. We finally reached a decision for our project, “How we can utilize our CUNY ID.” After we had the theme ready, we had a longer conversation on what subject we’re going to focus on. And then we decided to divide the project into two fields such as education and entertainment. Later we searched information individually to see if we could break down the subject even more. On the next two meetings, we concluded five categories that we’re going to focus working on: campus services, library services, healthcare insurance, museum discount, shopping discount and restaurant discount. Each one of us would take responsibility on some of these tasks and collected information individually. Changkyun worked on shopping discount and healthcare insurance. Rony Noel worked on restaurant discount. Xue Min Pan worked on museum discount, and Sunghak worked on library and campus services.

For the Openlab site, we created project site and invited everyone in the group, and then set it to private.  First, we created the menus according to the categories. Members are responsible for putting valuable information under their assigned category. Second, we discussed about how to post information on the Openlab and when and what to edit each other’s works so we wouldn’t delete any important information from each other. Third, members decided what to put under their categories, and then organized and posted them on the site, also deleted any extra or unrelated information through group discussion.  On the next few meetings we worked on gathering more information and discussed how our future site would be look like.

After gathering enough resource for the project, we divided our final move into different tasks. Sunghak worked on the documentation for the project and citation. Rony Noel worked on narrowing down information to put them on the Openlab. Changkyun worked on proposal for the project. And Xue Min worked on final editing and organizing the site, and created a presentation layout for everyone in the group. For the presentation, each member needed to create slides for his own categories. Xue Min is responsible for putting all slides into on final PowerPoint. For the Openlab, we replaced page tab with menus tab so that every bit of information was shown as page rather than post.  We modified the theme of our site and made the site clearly. We also made each title bigger and gave them color. We tried any organizing method to make our information clear to the reader such as tables, graphs and images.

In this project, we discussed about the concept and directions of the project in class. However, most of time we worked individually. We think this method helped us to express our ideas efficiently rather than one person did most of the work. Everyone in this project had done their work and shared their knowledge and ideas to the project. We recommended to get to know each other more first, and then gathered information on where all teammates agreed on. Also, we all know that the project started late in the semester. Everyone had his or her other finals to study on. So help out your teammate but finished anything you needed to do before helping other teammates. Measure to get your teammates contact information before any further discussion. Always have some plans to work on. You don’t want to wait for the last second. It won’t make project better.

In conclusion, making an online documentation project means to create ideas and build knowledge for other people. Therefore, people should build their project carefully because people who contributed in the project had responsibility with reliability of the project. We hope all readers will learn more throughout this project. Thanks to our professor Ian Beilin who gave us ideas and suggestions on the project.
