I think this cheese shop was my most favorite out of all the locations we visited on our field trip to Flatiron. It was cool to see how they make cheese there. We got to taste it, too. There is also a wine cellar (with a happy hour!) downstairs. I am planning to check that out!
I agree, Beechers was my favorite stop on our trip to the Flat Iron. It was interesting to see how they make their cheese, and you can turn around and order a grilled cheese right there. I will definitely be going here again soon.
Out of all of the locations we visited, Beecher’s made a big impact on me. I was surprised to find a cheese-making factory with glass windows where you can observe them. I think it shocked me because this corner shop had a “factory”, a cafe and a restaurant downstairs–its a triple threat! They had a sample of their most popular cheese product called “Flagship”. I can see why it holds it’s rank. It’s simply so delicious! I want to go back with my sister to buy the cheese! I think it would be so delicious with red wine.
Beecher’s was my ultimate favorite place to visited, I was very intrigued to see a little of the cheese making process. I love the fact that it allows it’s customers to observe process, so that they to get a better understanding of and how cheese is made. I tried the Beecher’s Handmade Cheese NY Flagship which has a “15 months age ,semi-hard cow’s milk cheese. A uniquely robust and nutty flavor puts this cheese in a class all by itself.” I enjoyed everything about the taste of the cheese, it reminded me about the New Zealand Cheddar Cheese in my home land Trinidad and Tobago. All i needed with sample i took was a hot hops bread to eat it with.
Beecher’s looks like a whole in the wall from the outside, who would of expected to fine the production of cheese being made right in the middle of this restaurant. I remember taking a culinary tour at my other college years ago, and there was a cheese making shop in the canal street area. Its awesome to see the process of something you eat and knowing how it was made, it adds a little personal touch in the appreciation process while sampling their cheese.
