image

The other day I went to a Japanese restaurant for my friends birthday. As you all may know I dont eat seafood, but….. She made me try the rock shrimp. It was delicious! The way it was fried, and glazed all worked together so well. I will definitely try it again in different restaurants.

Fette Sau BBQ

Fette Sau’s is a popular BBQ joint located in Williamsburg Brooklyn at 354 Metropolitan Ave. They are open 7 days a week. On Monday- Thursday from 5pm-11pm and Friday to Sunday from 12pm-11pm.  They are known and popular for their dry-rub style of BBQ, beers and bourbon. They have a very rustic cafeteria style setting and dining area and serve their food in metal cafeteria trays. The Ambiance of the place is very relaxing with music playing, dim lighting and the smell of BBQ all in the air. The bar is stacked with a variety of bourbon and planety of beers on tap. The cafeteria like tables all have different types of BBQ sauces on them as well as a roll of paper towels. When we got there it just opened up for the day and there were already customers waiting outside waiting for the doors top open.  We ordered the Brisket, the pulled pork that came with little slider buns and baked beans. The baked beans we very delicious with both a sweet and spicy kick. That was by far my favorite thing that i had.

Mantis Shrimp

IMG_20151012_005832

I have actually never even seen a mantis shrimp before and there it was in front me of me while I was at a friend’s house. The mantis shrimp is quite large, long and strange. These creatures are boiled whole and eaten out of the shell. I really liked the taste and texture of this shrimp. It was sweet and more tender than a lobster. It is a real delicacy to me and I would like to buy this shrimp and cook it myself.

I would like to try this creature with garlic sauce. I would even put it in a paella.

Coco Reef Dinner

Coconut Bay, Bon Accord Village, Trinidad & Tobago Phone: www.cocoreef.com

I  am not  a wine person, but my  friend  and i decided to order wine at dinner. It  was  Trapiche Wine Moscato, i like it very much. Because it was sweet  wine and not  dry  one, i  enjoyed  drinking a few glasses . I might be wrong  but I believe  that it has  medium body. It’s aromas was like herbs and a fruity smelt, it  was  smooth on  the  palate.

Sunday School Event Tobago

Sunday School is a weekly outdoor party in Buccoo Tobago the event is to  attraction for tourists. it’s  en-tales the  playing of  the  national  instrument of Trinidad and Tobago which is  the  steel pan. It l start from 6:00 p.m. to 12 midnight.  Also has an  after party  which the locals continue to party from 12 midnight until 4:00 a.m. it’s was  my  first  time  going  to  event and  it  was  great experience.
The local street vendors prepared meals, the is  great. I don’t find that the meals are expensive, however tourists  pays  more  for  their food. I payed  $60  for  Vegetable rice, Coleslaw, Lentil peas, Pakcoy , Potato salad, Macaroni pie and Cavali fish grilled with BBQ sauce.  I was given sample  taste  upon  placing  my  order  and  find  that  the  fish  was  tough because  he  over  cooked it  and  maybe because  it  was  left out on the grilled.  I’ve never eaten Cavali fish before time,  when  i got  it  i was not  over cooked  soft,  it  was  well seasoned, it just  melt  away  in your  month, it  was  silky smooth to go down and  it tasted  great.

Mast Brothers

Mast  Brothers chocolate  factory is located  at  111 N 3rd St, Brooklyn, NY 11211. It was  found in  2007 by  Micheal and Rick Mast.  The Mast  Brothers is  a  New York  Based  establishment  with  two other  locations  in  Los Angles and  London. Their products are “chocolate bars, beverage, confections with  an  emphasis on  clarity  of  favor.” They  get  their  coco beans  from  Madagascar,Papua New Guinea, Dominican Republic and  Venezuela. The coco beans  is roasted  differently from each of the  located produce from ,  which  they  roast about to 2  bags a day.  Chocolate is  made  from  the coco beans and organic cane sugar. They  offers 30 minutes  tours everyday  between hour 11 am to  5 pm. This  where  the  they  explain  the  chocolate making  process.

I personally don’t like the sample of the chocolate tasted  because it was bit too much with  bitterness ,smell,  and taste for me. The  goat milk chocolate  smelled  was  to fresh  with  from  the  animal itself. The olive chocolate  was  smooth in mouth  but  was  also  bitter.

The Blue Bottle Coffee

It is located at 160 Berry St, Brooklyn, NY 11249.  It is a really fancy coffee shop that provides good coffee.  I tried the New Orleans that is very flavorful.  It had some sugar already in the brew and was very balanced.  Its a cold drink.  It is was very smooth in taste.  I really like this coffee shop and if i stop by i would rather go here than starbucks.

Koliba restaurant the place to go by 31-11 23rd Av. Astoria, NY 11105

It looks to me as a very cozy restaurant from the outside.  It serves Slovakian style of food.  I would want to go try it myself and learn more about their culture.  The prices are reasonable for a $30 for entree and a drink or little more.  The golash that is a stew that has different types of meats sounds very good.  The potato spaetzle with sheep cheese and bacon, bread dumplings with cream sauce is also good according to online reviews.
