Union Square Greenmarket

The Market had a lot of interesting raw ingredient and foods that are not found in a common supermarket. There was ostrich eggs, fresh mistake (which I have only seen dried), potted apple and orange mint (both are approaching the end of their season for people looking for them fresh at specialty markets), and young ginger (normally found inspring). During the time that I was there it was the Friday afternoon so the market is calming down without the crowds and the merchandise has mostly been pick over. So if you are planning to shop be the early bird, but if you are going just to go (and to avoid the people) afternoon is a good time to stroll through and see what the market has to offer. I would definitely go and visit again as a shopper and not a just be loiterer.

I agree, I love street foods and markets because there is so many different varieties to choose from. I will always find something new to eat and learn about different foods from different cultures. Plus, you can always find a bargain. The nectarines had a beautiful color and looked very tasty. Take your time to stop by each booth and speak to the owners. They all have their own stories to tell and support your local producers!

I’ve never been to a Green Market before and was definitely great first time experience for me. Because when you look at the different varieties of the fresh goods ,it’s easier to compare it with good you actually get in grocery store and know that it’s much better quality. I’ve also tried a Nectar which i have never eaten before, it taste very good. And Sample a Semi sweet wine from Treleaven that was also good.

I really liked the wide variety of produce. The people are very friendly and are willing to be very helpful. The nectarines i had tasted was very refreshing and was worth 1 dollar for one! I also tried the small apple that was like 90 cents was also really fresh and juicy.

I would have to say this was my favorite site after EATALY, because of the really good price for fresh vegetables and fruits. I even ended up gewtting fresh unwithered yellow corn and a bunch of plump bright purple-red radishes for under $4! I ended up recommending this place to a couple of friends as well and I intend on going back. I feel as though the thought of hand picked, clean, ripe fruits and vegetables are the key thing that drives people right into the market place.

I really enjoyed the Green Market because of the variety and freshness of the products. I stopped by the nectarine place and they had samples they were so sweet and juicy I had to buy some. The ones I got weren’t so great probably because I don’t know how to pick them out. I will definitely try to pass by on market days because most of the produce and breads look so fresh.

I have even to green markets before and it’s so refreshing to sample fruitsand vegetables that has not been processed. It’s all about supporting our local farmers, yes the produce would be a little more expensive but the quality is definitely worth it. I purchased some pears that were sweet and delicious. I also purchased a bottle of wine called Apple Mystique which is a sweet wine..yum, very smooth on the pallet. I believe it is important to support Union Square green market and other green markets around the city, yes it may be a little more expensive but the quality is worth it.
