Biography

Earlier in my career, I worked as a performer, writer and director of theatre. After receiving an M.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University and the Moscow Arts Theatre School, I performed in productions of Wit (with Judith Light), Crave (with Debbie Harry), and Diary of a Scoundrel (Teatra Tabakova) and directed Gogol’s Marriage (HERE/NYC). I developed a love of teaching along the way and enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Theatre and Performance Studies at the CUNY Graduate Center with that career goal in mind. My approach to teaching has been indelibly shaped by Dr. Pamela Sheingorn’s attentive, judicious and caring mentorship and professionalization over the course of my graduate studies. I defended a dissertation on medieval Iberian theatre in 2012 and was fortunate to be hired at City Tech that same year. I was promoted to Associate Professor in 2018.
