I would like to work at the Manhattan district attorney’s office because I have always been really into criminal Law and want to prosecute criminals. I may have got that passion from watching law and order too much, but I can see myself doing that and being passionate about it. I think the victim’s getting justice is the biggest reward in criminal law. Being able to help the victim get justice and holding a criminal accountable is one of the best things you can do on earth to help the human population. Hi, my name is Davida Barnum Hibbler. I am 17. A freshman and this is my second semester. I was in between nursing and law but in the end, I choose to do paralegal. I always said I wanted to be a lawyer since I was in first grade because I also wanted to be something special and change the world in a way that most people would not. I do not want to be a paralegal, but I feel this is a pathway to becoming a lawyer. Paralegal teaches me the law and helps me understand the law a little more. Outside of school, I love to read fiction books and watch shows such as Law and Order Special victim units and Grownish. I love shopping and also traveling. I also enjoy hanging out with my dog and cat. I am excited to see how my first spring semester of college goes!

Hi, My name is Benjamin Cordova but you guys can call me Ben. This is my second semester at city tech but I am a transfer student from the college of Staten island who previously majored in nursing but it just didn’t end up working for me. This semester I’m excited to start my new major, paralegal studies and see if this is the right fit for me. In my free time I like seeing my friends and binge watching shows and finding new weird movies to watch and I also like hanging out with my cat.

I would like to work in the legal aid society (Civil Practice) because I would love to help people who can’t afford a lawyer and people who are in of help because they are homeless. Civil practices gives help to low income people who can’t afford a lawyer. My name is Tiffany Dinnall. I am basically a second year student in City tech. I begin in Fall 2021 and I wanted to do human services in the beginning but I changed my major to Law and paralegal studies because I love laws and I wanna know everything that comes being a lawyer and understanding more about the government. I am a supervisor at Burlington Coat factory. I recently got that position in June 2022 after working there for 2 years. I hope to enjoy my spring semester in college.

Hello, fellow classmate, my name is Francisco Castillo.  I recently transferred to New York City College of Technology from John Jay college.  My purpose for enrolling in Law and paralegal studies at this school is the continue my dream of becoming an Attorney for the City of New York.  I plan to graduate from this college, I feel that this college will help me advance my studies in learning what a lawyer does for a living.  For example, the sort of laws that an attorney tends to specialize in, what is their role in the courtroom, etc.  New York City College of Technology classes intrigue me as well, I couldn’t believe the variety of courses the school has to offer.  Other than my education, I have other interests.  I love sports in general, I love to go to live sports events here and there.  I also enjoy going to the gym, it gives me the energy I need to get me through the day. Thank you for your time in reading this post, I’m excited for a great semester.

Where I Want to Work

I would like to try working at the Legal Aid Society in the Reforming Law Policy department or the Employment Law Unit. Policy is what shapes society. It would be interesting to work towards making those policies more just and more useful to everyone. Employment Law would be interesting as well, as many times employers try to steal labor from workers, which is not right. The Legal Aid Society describes a case in which workers were not paid for their work, sometimes for years, but they were able to get them the wages they were owed. It’s not fair to take advantage of people who were just trying to work.   

The Legal Aid Society has an office at 111 Livingston Street, but they are located all over the city as well.  They are a large organization with many job openings as well, according to the Jobs page on their website.
