I chose the Netflix movie “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile” that is based on a true story for my Law in Culture assignment. This movie expresses the Ted Bundy murders and his crimes that went on for years. I have watched the documentaries on Netflix since it is a very known and popular case especially on Netflix, but I haven’t watched this movie yet. I’m excited to watch and review this movie heard a lot of great things about it!
The 2001 film “Legally Blonde” directed by Daniel Bradford is about a woman named Elle Woods who was dumped by her ex-boyfriend for being too “blonde”. In an effort to win him back and break the stereotype of the “dumb blonde”, she applies to Harvard law school and fights to become a lawyer.
For my “Law in Culture” review assignment, I have chosen a book. The book is a source that I’m reading in my ENG 3401- Law through Literature. The name of it is “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood. The year of Publication date is 1985. According to Wikipedia, the setting of this story takes place in the “near-future”. Where the United States government has been overthrown by another government.

(2015-2022) Tv drama show “Better Call Saul!” the prequel to globally loved show “Breaking Bad”. The show is about a man struggling against himself, Deciding what kind of lawyer he wants to become a “Criminal lawyer” or a “CRIMINAL Lawyer” struggling with the ethics that the job comes with.
I come humbled and honored to introduce myself to you professor together with my peers . My name is Boyd Embleton and this current semester marks my 1st semester at City Tech after spending my first 2 1/2 years of college at York College. Whilst in the process of choosing my next school of study I heavily looked at how easy my commuting would be as well as how active they were combined with diversity and/or hospitable and certainly not least the question I rested on was, “Am I going to grow here especially pertaining to my major?” Evidently, my answer was yes for City Tech and upon first glance you wouldn’t think a previously Political Science major would fall into Paralegal Studies but I did my due diligence of researching beforehand and I saw the overview posted by Prof. Mennella and I was really intrigued. That and the fact that I have relatives of mine who are alumni of this school and they’d always speak so highly of this institution so those talks definitely helped play into my decision.
Law has always been in my veins (if you will), ever since I was in my more tender years thanks to my heavenly watching great uncle who was an attorney by profession, dealing more so with the criminal aspect of things. Simply, my hope is to squeeze as much of this orange in the line of this program as I possibly can that’ll equip me with the necessary tools to certify me to be a Paralegal. And further taking me onto law school too in my later years in pursuit of my ultimately being a lawyer just as my great uncle was. I too, like him believe in the law and its abiding system and want to take up the mantle of representing people, place or thing in wherever my expertise shall take me because the right type of peace and justice should always be met. Finally, one last thing I’d like to leave about myself is I love basketball and most of down time is spent doing in the realm of the game.
In the case and matter of where I would want to work, it arduously brung me to; working for a corporate or other business organization and that particular place would be the American District Telegraph or better known as ADT. Corporate Law for lawyers or better for Paralegals is fascinating because when you think about it, you’re in business for a business or by a business. There’s always a need for this branch of law which garnered my interest on a whole new level because just as people need representation, businesses who are though run by people(s) need it as well. It would actually tear me to assume an area of legal speciality like that of corporate law because I’d prefer to practice law in all of its categories and have it streamlined into various settings. However, money does talk and corporate law has gotten money written all over it and it pales in comparison to being employed by law firm (for example) whether it be small or large because companies tend to hire ‘in house’ attorneys via paralegals to conduct these legal works allowing the paralegal business itself to grow in itself to flourish and businesses like ADT are hiring at an exponential rate for legal services.

Just based on that being their company overview, it was compelling to know that I can be helping a helper who’s so committed to offering their best assistance in their product field. For paralegals, they deploy a versatile set of tasks given by the Team Manager, Legal and the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel and Corporate and Securities compliance. Others include; record management, liaising with internal business partners, and miscellaneous administrative tasks. After doing some research on the internet, I’ve decided I would like to work for the company of Cooley LLP. According to it’s Wikipedia page, Cooley’s headquarter is located in Palo Alto, California. Cooley has different offices in other locations, which include big cities and overseas. I would like to work in the office here in New York City. The address of the office is 55 Hudson Yards New York, NY 10001. The company is a large firm that specializes variety of laws. For example, Cooley offers help in corporate, litigation, regulatory, and intellectual property. The reason I chose this company, is because the specializiation in corporate law. Another reason, since it’s a big commpany with many different offices, there is a chance i could relocate to a different city or country. But the office here in New York City, is loctaed in a great area.

The organization I would ultimately like to work for is the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG). This organization deals with several areas of law such as: immigration, employment, family and even criminal. I have personally had this organization represent me in a personal matter and I was totally impressed by the level of professionalism, care and attention my matter received from everyone that was involved. It blew me away, because while I knew I was not the only client I was treated as such. As I embark on my studies, I reflect on where my skills and talents would be most useful and this organization immediately comes to mind. Employment with the NYLAG will allow me to utilize my skill set as a paralegal but it would simultaneously afford me with the opportunity to give back to society.

I would like to work at the legal aid society working as a paralegal in Criminal defense. I chose this specific area because I want to do my part in helping people who need legal services but might not be able to afford it. I also find it very interesting to assist in criminal law because of the many different cases you would have to work on all being different from each other. With this job I would be dealing with Criminal appeals which also intrigues me because of having to deal with specific cases .

The 2020 film ” Fall from Grace.” was directed by Tyler Perry and the first of his movies to be released by Netflix. The film is about a woman who falls in love with a criminal. and a beginner public defender that has to defend her in a very deep-level case. and has to find all the details that relate to the case some of that is not very obvious at first.
