Week 2 of Internship:

  1. Join the Internship Site
  2. Join Asana / Accept Invite sent on 02/13/24
  3. Send Google/Gmail/dropbox contact info
  4. Contribute to the Expectations / Goals Doc
  5. Set up your OpenLab ePortfolio
    • Create a post category for your Internship journal entries
    • Start adding your best work from each class (aim to have 3 posts completed with images, project description, and reflection)
    • Look at portfolios on OpenLab, last semester interns’ ePortfolios
  6. Complete 10 hours of work on the above tasks (including this meeting). Record your hours and work on our shared time-tracker spreadsheet

Week 3 of Internship:

  1. OpenLab Report for President
  2. “Did You Know?” Post on The Buzz
    Starting with this existing list of 10 Things We Love About The OpenLab, choose one and create a Draft post on The Buzz by next Tuesday. Let the rest of the team know on Asana which “thing” you choose so we don’t have duplicates.
  3. Project Proposal 
    • Brainstorm and create a proposal with timeline for your Major Project to share next week.
  4. Continue working on your OpenLab ePortfolio
    • Follow the COMD Portfolio Template menu structure (restructure your existing menu or start from scratch and document the experience of creating a new portfolio)
  5. “Every Week” tasks
    • Complete weekly check-in by Friday
    • Document your hours in the spreadsheet

Week 4: Networking Event

The event I attended was a presentation open studio of work by artists/students. The MFA Computer Arts Studio is shared among students interested in building interactive, multidisciplinary, and installation art projects. The space also includes a workshop/classroom for students to construct their work. School of Visual Arts MFA Computer Arts emphasizes creative experimentation and a multidisciplinary approach to making art with computers and emerging technologies. Dedicated to producing digital artists of the highest caliber, the department guides each student in developing a personal artistic style in a course of study that is individually tailored to meet their needs. Students come from around the world to study in this two ­year MFA degree program, which has distinguished itself with nine Student Academy Awards. The School of Visual Arts has been a leader in the education of artists, designers, and creative professionals for more than seven decades. With a faculty of distinguished working professionals, a dynamic curriculum, and an emphasis on critical thinking, SVA is a catalyst for innovation and social responsibility. Comprising more than 6,000 students at its Manhattan campus and 35,000 alumni in 100 countries, SVA also represents one of the most influential artistic communities in the world.
