WELCOME FROM THE CHAIR
Welcome to the New York City College of Technology’s (NYCCT) Dental Hygiene program website. We are proud to be the oldest and largest Dental Hygiene program in the New York City area, offering day and evening classes towards an Associate degree in Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. Upon completion of educational requirements, graduates are eligible to do the licensing examinations required for practice as a registered dental hygienist. (RDH)
Accredited by the American Dental Association’s Commission on Dental Accreditation, our department began with just 40 students in 1947 and has since graduated thousands of successful, registered dental hygienists, practicing nationwide in diverse career paths.
I am one of them, a proud graduate of the class of 1975, and know, firsthand, how well NYCCT prepares its graduates for an exciting and rewarding career in Dental Hygiene.
The 2014 U.S. News and World Report named Dental Hygiene as one of the best health care professions and “expects a 33.3% percent employment growth for this field from 2012 to 2022.”
As the field evolves, our staff of seasoned educators and dental practitioners adapt to the ever-changing standards of the industry, teaching our diverse student population to use cutting-edge technology in the department’s 50-chair, state-of-the-art, onsite dental clinic. There, students gain real-world experience, treating live patients with support and real-time feedback from faculty.
The NYCCT dental hygiene experience not only prepares students to work as clinicians in private offices, but also sets students on a path towards dental hygiene careers in corporate practice, research, education, public health, entrepreneurship, and administration.
The possibilities for a fulfilling career in Dental Hygiene are endless. To learn about how to begin your career at NYCCT, contact us at 718 260 5070 to find out more. I look forward to speaking with you!
Sincerely,
Maureen Archer
