Hi Kelvin!
How’s the sea bass treating you in Animal Crossing? I’ve been playing Animal Crossing non stop since last month and as soon as I heard about your topic I just wanted to hop back in my island! Long story short I love your topic.
I think that your designs are really interesting. I like your font and I like how you used the iconic leaf as a background design element. I think that this is also really informative since Animal Crossing New Horizons is the first game I have played in the series. It felt like Isabelle was always around!
I do think that your designs need a clear hierarchy. While there are subtle type size differences my eyes couldn’t help but jump from one point to another, especially in the infographic. (I do love the side note about Tom being a raging capitalist – you’re right but who else would let you take as long as you want to pay him back?) That being said I wasn’t sure if this was an infographic about Animal Crossing itself or Tom Nook. I think that if you make your infographic about Animal Crossing itself you have a lot more content to work with versus a character. You can break down to the sort of the staples of the game – i.e: “Animal Crossing is a life simulation game. While the scenery of the game has changed a lot of the core gameplay remains the same.” Then you can probably say Animal Crossing has fishing, chopping trees, digging fossils, etc. I think these can be little details that can help your infographic become more of a diagram.
The hierarchy also needs to be adjusted with your timeline as well. My eye goes right to New Horizons first, rather than starting from the beginning of Animal Crossing. While I don’t mind New Horizons being bigger than the rest, if you can somehow guide the viewer through the timeline then I think it would be a great timeline! The pink on green is almost at the same saturation(?) so the two colors are competing with each other – making the pink arrows hard to see. I also think that your timeline needs a little context before starting the timeline. Maybe a title and a paragraph of copy to explain what you’re showing the viewer.
I know this is a lot! I really like Animal Crossing so I’m mildly (very*) passionate about these villagers! I really like your topic and I really like the information you gathered for the timeline. I also like how it matches the mood of Animal Crossing. You’re doing great – sorry for the late feedback! *villager clap*
