Both articles were interesting and made me understand what Design is really about. According to Helen Armstrong, the biggest part of being a designer is focusing on “How .” Few problems designers face that were stated in Helen Armstrong’s article are: many designers remain unknown while, on the other hand, their work gets exposed, and Design isn’t visible enough even though it is everywhere. There are two ways of creating a design theory: building a single community and obtaining ideas from sources other than the field, such as psychology and political philosophy.

A designer is a planner with an eye for aesthetics. A designer treats each part of the project equally and builds a connection between art and the public. A designer does not just make functional pieces. A designer makes a meaningful piece and thinks from a psychological perspective. There are different types of Design, Visual Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, and research design. Furthermore, each type of Design works differently. Graphic design professions in the worlds of print, books, and advertisements. Visual Design is communicating through images. Industrial Design is a solving process. Finally, research design deals with experiments.

Designers are responsible for solving the issues of how the public views Design and designs. For example, some people view a design as a functional object, and if it is not functional, it is useless to them. Designers must be ready to put effort into spreading knowledge of Design. Everything around us is art and Design, and it is our responsibility to make sure people realize that even the objects they use every day are part of the design world.
