New York City College of Technology doesn’t tell or show what computer you need for your courses. You might have asked your friend or searched for which laptop or desktop you should buy for your college course. However those recommendations might not suit your course requirements. This page will help you decide what laptop or desktop you should look into, if you are planning to buy one for your course.

First of all, before planning to buy laptop or desktop for your course, in most courses, you will need documenting programs such as Microsoft words, excel, or power point. Keep it in mind that, Microsoft Office does not come with your new desktop or laptop. so be prepare to purchase this separately. I recommend that you buy one. Since college students use it the most.

We wanted to specify each courses with their required material however, courses and materials tend to change. So we will give you only major computer programs we use in New York City College of Technology. If you use that program in your course, you will have an idea what system requirement is needed for that course.

 

Office 2013

System requirements for Office 2013.

• Computer and processor : 1 Ghz or Faster. x86 or x64 bit processor supporting SSE2.

• Memory (RAM) : 1GB RAM (x32bit), 2GB RAM(x64bit).

• Hard Disk : 3GB Available.

• Display : Graphics hardware acceleration requires a directx10 graphics card and 1024 x 576 or higher resolution monitor.

• Operating System : Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7, Windows Server 2012, Windows 8.

For Mac : Office 2013 doesn’t work on Mac. Try 2011 version.

 

MATHLAB PRODUCTS

System requirements for MathLab products.

• Processors : Any Intel or AMD X86 Supporting SSE2 instruction set.

For mac : Intel core 2 or later.

• Memory (RAM) : 1024 MB (At least 2048MB Recommended)

• Hard Disk : 1GB for MATLAB only, 3-4GB for a typical installation.

• Operating Systems : Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista SP2, Windows XP, Windows Server 2012, 2008(SP1, SP2), 2003(SP2). Mac : OS X 10.7.4+, 10.8, 10.9

 

ALICE 3D

System requirements for Alice 3D.

• Processors : Any intel or AMD.
• Memory (RAM) : 1024MB (At least 2048MB Recommended, but not required)
• Hard Disk : 1GB
• Operating System: Windows (XP, Vista 32-bit, Vista 64-bit, Windows 7 32-bit, Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8 32-bit, Windows 8 64-bit. Mac: OS X 10.4 and later, Intel Processor.

 

VISUAL LOGIC

System requirements for Visual Logic.

• Processors : Any intel or AMD.
• Memory (RAM) : 1024MB recommended, but not required
• Hard Disk : 2.27MB to install.
• Operating System : Windows (XP, Vista 32-bit, Vista 64-bit, Windows 7 32-bit, Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8 32-bit, Windows 8 64-bit. Does not work on MAC.
