Submission guidelines (Vol. 20, 2025)

What is City Tech Writer?

City Tech Writer is an interdisciplinary journal of undergraduate writing focused on publishing excellent student writing from across the disciplines.

Do you publish from classes other than English?

Yes! We publish lab reports, research papers, essays, interview transcripts, and creative work – including photographs!

What does publication involve?

Your work will be featured in an all-digital issue, in which your text will be supplemented with audio, video, and imagery. You might also be invited to send in an audio or video recording in which you talk about your work! At the end of the year, we’ll hold a reception (either in person or virtual, depending on our circumstances) to celebrate your work.

We are always experimenting with new ways to show off student writing. Last year, we produced an AI-assisted audio adaptation of a student play. Check it out!

How can I get involved?

We are now accepting submissions for the 2025 issue! You can submit sponsored pieces from Spring or Fall 2024 through November 25, 2024. Submit your piece here.

How many pieces should I submit?

If you’re a professor, we request that you sponsor no more than 3 pieces. If you’re a student, we request that you submit no more than 2 essays.
