Skill set developed

  1. Patient Education: Communicating effectively with patients to provide comprehensive information about oral health, hygiene practices, treatment options, and preventive measures tailored to their individual needs and concerns. This includes discussing proper brushing and flossing techniques, dietary recommendations, and the importance of regular dental check-ups.
  2. Fluoride and Sealant Application: Applying fluoride treatments to strengthen tooth enamel and prevent tooth decay, as well as placing dental sealants on the occlusal surfaces of teeth to provide a protective barrier against decay-causing bacteria.
  3. Head & Neck Exam: Conducting a thorough examination of the head and neck region to assess for any abnormalities, including palpating lymph nodes, inspecting the skin, and evaluating the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) function.
  4. Oral Cancer Screening: Performing a comprehensive examination of the oral cavity, including the lips, tongue, gums, cheeks, palate, and throat, to detect any signs or symptoms of oral cancer or precancerous lesions.
  5. Dental Charting: Recording detailed information about the patient’s oral health status, including existing dental restorations, missing or decayed teeth, periodontal measurements, and any abnormalities or concerns observed during the examination.
  6. Radiographic Imaging: Capturing and interpreting diagnostic images, such as dental X-rays and intraoral/extraoral photographs, to aid in the diagnosis and treatment planning process, as well as monitoring changes in oral health over time.
  7. Local Anesthesia Administration: Safely and effectively administering local anesthesia to provide pain control and ensure patient comfort during dental procedures, such as fillings, extractions, or periodontal treatments.
  8. Alginate Impressions: Taking accurate impressions of the teeth and surrounding oral structures using alginate material to create molds or models for various purposes, including fabricating dental restorations, orthodontic appliances, or mouthguards.
  9. Dental Prophylaxis: Performing professional dental cleanings to remove plaque, calculus, and stains from the teeth surfaces, as well as polishing to achieve a smooth and shiny finish, promoting optimal oral hygiene and preventing periodontal disease.
  10. Scaling and Root Planing: Providing non-surgical periodontal therapy to treat gum disease by meticulously removing plaque and calculus deposits from above and below the gumline, as well as smoothing the root surfaces to promote healing and prevent bacterial reattachment.
  11. Fabricating Temporary Crowns: Creating temporary crowns or bridges to protect prepared teeth and maintain function and aesthetics while permanent restorations are being fabricated in the dental laboratory. This involves selecting and shaping temporary materials to achieve proper fit and occlusion.
