CAMBA Beacon 164 at P.S. 164 Caesar Rodney

My team of aspiring dental hygienists, alongside myself, paid a visit to the CAMBA Beacon 164 at P.S. 164 Caesar Rodney, driven by the desire to instill early dental care habits in 5-6 year olds.

Our presentation aimed to shed light on the impact of dietary decisions on oral health and advocate for healthier eating habits. We explored food options helpful to both dental and overall well-being, while also sharing tips on maintaining oral hygiene to avoid tooth decay. Demonstrating proper brushing techniques and frequency was a key part of our session, followed by engaging coloring activities illustrating the effects of different foods on dental health.

This project provided us with a gratifying opportunity to impart valuable lessons on nutritional choices and oral care practices to young children. Using our accumulated knowledge from our time at NYCCT, we crafted an effective lesson plan tailored to our audience’s needs.

Screening and Varnish application at Shore Parkway Head Start

In our Dental Hygiene class, we had the chance to provide Oral Hygiene Education to students at Shore Parkway Head Start. The kids eagerly engaged with the educational videos we presented, which covered topics like maintaining healthy eating habits, effective tooth-brushing methods, and preventing cavities. Their enthusiasm peaked when we let them practice what they learned on our Animal Helper Soft toys.
