Population

Like many countries during the pandemic Australia’s population growth slowed down, due to deaths from COVID-19 and because of the closed international borders (SPA, 2022). As of 2022 the population of Australia is 25 million people (WorldBank, 2022). Families make up 71 percent of Australia’s households, but in recent years families with children have been declining (Qu, 2018). An important part of Australia is their migrant population, with 7.5 percent of their population being made up of people who were born overseas (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2022). In 2020 they ranked 9th internationally for their total number of migrants, with the largest group of overseas-born people being from England (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2021). With England being a close partner to Australia it makes sense that they would have such a large population of British people living in their country.
