View of the World from 9th Avenue, 1976

“View of the World from 9th Avenue” is a map that shows Saul Stein berg viewpoint of New York City. Saul Stein berg illustrates 9th ave,10th avenue, Hudson River, and New Jersey . He is accurate when he illustrates 9th and 10th avenue with surrounding buildings and a lot of people and cars in the area. But he shows the Hudson River and New Jersey so close by 9th and 10th avenue and that’s inaccurate because if your standing in that location you cant see that location. I understand by the title of the map that he was just trying to illustrate what he sees 9th avenue as. He just added the other locations as a vantage point. The New Yorker Magazine is a with articles, reportage, essays  criticism, cartoons, etc. I understand why this map would be on the cover of the magazine because it is illustrating how Stein berg is showing people about the New York way of life.
