Sketchbook and detail log

Remember to get yourself a sketch book if you do not already have one and use it to document the development of your buildings.

Also – keep your word document or detail log up to date.  Paste in the images you find and also the URL you locate.  As an alternative you can post these on your openlab site instead of keeping the word document.

Please print your scavenger hunt today on 11 x 17

Don’t get nervous – I am referring to the first assignment you completed already.

I want to spend time red-marking everyone’s sheets and it would take me over an hour just to print them all – so I am asking everyone to print theirs today during class and hand them in.

After I have returned them to you I will ask you to redo the assignment – modifying your sheets to respond to my mark-ups and also to add both annotation and dimensions to help practice for the creation of your own details for your own projects.

This second assignment will be graded separately as “Scavenger Hunt Annotation”

Due for this Monday – Project Grids and Levels

It is required that every student be prepared for our next class.

We will be drawing this in Monday’s class.

Problems Uploading to Blackboard have been fixed

I understand that some of you were having issues uploading our assignments to Blackboard.  The setup limited you to only one upload.  I have corrected this so that you may now make multiple uploads.  Many of you have emailed me your files – which I appreciate.

Please also upload now to Blackboard.  If you emailed me you assignments will not be marked as late.

Group Option vs Individual Work

Groups are typically setup to help divide up the work when the tasks are too large for a single student to complete.  As several group have had a difficult time coordinating schedules and working together I am giving each group the option to switch to individual work moving forward.

What this means:

Each team gets to choose as a group whether they wish to keep working together or not.  If a team splits the entire team must work as individuals. If you choose to split your team and work as individuals, you must all share all files and research you have completed so far with all of your team mates.  Moving forward there is no requirement that you continue to share.

Dividing up the group:

Inventory & Analysis:   Each individual will be responsible for completing their own set of Inventory & Analysis Drawings.  All Inventory and Analysis files and information any member of the team has created so far must be distributed to every member of the team.

Zoning: Each individual is already required to create their own zoning studies with citations.  All research any member of the team has created so far must be distributed to every member of the team. If you work as individuals moving forward there is no requirement you must share any new research you conduct.

Building Analysis:   Each individual will be responsible for completing their own building analysis moving forward.  All building analysis information any member of the team has created so far must be distributed to every member of the team.  Moving forward you are no longer required to share.

If you your team wishes to continue to work together then every member must continue to work as a group.  This means the Inventory/Analysis and the Building Analysis will continue to be a group effort.  Zoning work is at a point where each person is responsible for completing their own zoning studies with citations.

Deadline to Decide:

Each team must inform me of their decision one way or the other by the second class of this week.

All current work has been graded

Stay hopeful – there is still ample time to get good grades in this course – but it requires real work on your part.

Please login to Blackboard to review your team and individual grades.  I wrote up a detailed PDF for each team that covers (Inventory & Analysis, Zoning and Building Analysis)  – You will each find this uploaded as a single PDF under the grade for team zoning.

We will discuss grading in class on Monday.  Please review this and see it as a wake up call for many of you to get going – this course requires a lot of work and I am not seeing adequate production from many of you.
