From an early age, my fascination with oral hygiene sparked a passion within me. While I eagerly greeted each day with a toothbrush in hand, my younger sister had a different perspective. Determined to make her comfortable with brushing, I took it upon myself to guide her, armed with the limited knowledge I possessed. Eventually, my efforts paid off, and my sister began to take care of her teeth. Witnessing her achievement as her older sister filled me with joy and taught me the power of patience.

As time went on, I extended my teaching to the entire household, showing everyone the importance of proper oral care. Then, at the age of 18, I unexpectedly landed a position at a dental office through Indeed. Although I lacked experience, the dentist who interviewed me assured me that he would impart all the necessary knowledge. In just a few months, I found myself assisting with complex procedures like root canals, seamlessly employing four-handed dentistry.

Throughout my time as an assistant, I observed how the dentist and dental hygienists prioritized comprehensive explanations and ensured patients were fully informed about their oral hygiene before leaving. I became fascinated with oral health and how oftentimes some people deflect from their oral hygiene. Being in this type of clinical setting motivated me to break the barrier against not being so knowledgeable on maintaining your oral hygiene and becoming a licensed dental hygienist; igniting my desire to bridge that gap and establish a strong clinician-patient relationship.
