James Levin: Career Coach

About two weeks ago, a speaker at to class today named James Levin. Side note: I came late to class because something came up. Do not be late to class NEVER. Anyway, James is a career coach who helps other making a major transition easier. He is also someone that helps others create a resume and cover letter for their field. James goes to many schools and colleges giving advises to the younger generation about the workplace and the internship experience.

In this occasion, James gave us tips and answers to our questions. For example is it okay to text instead of email. His answer is Don’t text but try to keep your information professional in the workplace or the work world. As well as being aware of our content in social media for employers really do look at those things. Be grateful that you have an internship, it’s a great opportunity. Make friendships and relationship with a co-worker. You never know when you might need their help. These are a few statements Mr. Levin said and these statements are the ones that I capture and wrote in my notebook.

So later on after class, I check His website which by the way looks pretty straight forward and has a clean design. You can check it out His website at the end of this post. My favorite section of His website was the Blogs section. I read one of his blogs and I was WOW by it.  The title of that post was called BAGGAGE. I was drawn to the title right away. Here James mentions the baggage we carry through our career which over time stop our career growth. This is my favorite line throughout the blog:

The essence of who you are, who you will become depends on your inner depth and your center – YOUR CORE.

Locating that essence, that center, that interior strength, that depth, that core is the fundamental beginning of all that you will do and, if done well, all that you will achieve. Your success is based on your character and your ability to commit to growth, and one of the best ways to accomplish this is to minimize the baggage.

From reading James’ blog, I made it my goal to dump, get rid of some “baggage” so I can start finding my core. So my fellow readers, let us find our core: who we are in this world and do some spring or winter cleaning in our lives.
