In the film we are about to watch, a woman-Angelique Anderson-says: “I always wanted to have a house with a big back yard…” Corey adds: “I want to own a house so that if anything happened to me, she wouldn’t be put out on the street.”
• What health benefits might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing?
• How does home ownership (or its lack) affect conditions in your community?
• How easy or difficult is it to find quality, affordable housing in your community?
The health benefits that can derive from affordable, quality and secure housing are: in terms of affordability it means that one is living within their means and there might be more money to take better care of their health, to buy nutritious and quality food rather settling with something unhealthy just to pay the bills. living in an affordable housing will cause less stress because a person would not have to worry about where the rent or mortgage will come from so there is that absence of added stress where that is concerned. The health benefits that can arise from a quality housing is that you get clean water (hopefully…NY) no hazards will be present that can cause harm to a person, example, No lead pipes or paint on the walls, no broken stairs, or absence of heat in the winter. The benefits of living in a secure hosing again I believe is that lack of stress and the benefit of safety.
The lack of home ownership does affect conditions in my community, sometimes other tenants in the building can become noisy and loud and that affects others that likes peace and quiet, there is also that lack of outdoor space.
It is very difficult to find quality and affordable housing. the rent is very expensive, and the money that you pay for rent in NY you could get so much for the same money in another state hence we find people moving south.
If someone has affordable housing, that is secure and livable, the health benefits would be that there would most likely be lower levels of stress in wondering if they are able to come home and not find themselves facing an eviction notice or their belongings on the sidewalk. It would ensure that the owner has enough money to take care of themselves and their families, to eat and not feel like they are extremely unhealthy. Lacking a home can lead to dangerous stress levels because a person has to carry all their things on them. Socially, owning a house, apartment or condo can put a damper on how friends or family sees the individual, and it may heavily negatively impact relationships. Finding affordable housing in New York City may be easier than in other states, but people are still fighting for places to live, and the inflation rates aren’t exactly helping. Upstate New York would probably have better options of somewhere to live but probably in rural areas because it is mostly in the middle of nowhere.
Affordable, quality and secure housing can have a major positive effect on health. Affordable housing means not having to stress about the mortgage, having enough money to save for the future, buy better nutritious foods and join a gym and etc.. Home ownership definitely affects conditions in my community, because especially in NYC during wintertime, you have to keep the snow clear from your front yard, making sure the garbage is securely placed for the truck driver on certain days, as well as having noisy neighbors with pets and or infants that wake you up in the middle of the night. It is very hard finding the affordable and quality house in NYC. the rent and mortgage are extremely high, especially a house in an ideal neighborhood is very expensive. But outside of NYC housing is not as bad, its better quality and affordable but one downfall would is that everything is far away, driving is a must for regular transportation. You can not rely on MTA subways and buses. Which takes us back to saving more money!
professor Almond please disregard this comment, I confused myself with this and another assignment.
Thank You!
Health benefits that might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing are that it will create a mentally free, and stress free environment. This is because there will be enough money to maintain budget, and also to maintain quality of life. It’s a great feeling that you don’t have to deduct a big amount of your salary for the rent. Not the least, if you have enough money to maintain your quality of life you can afford everything you want for example expensive clothing, pets, maintaining your garden, decorating your house, good and healthy food which will improve your health. These things also make you stress free.
If you are a homeowner in a community it could be a positive thing especially if you have a good neighborhood. You can save a lot of money if you are living in an expensive state like New York and California where the rent is expensive. You get satisfaction that you don’t have to pay rent monthly. You can extend and make changes in your house as you want and it will give you further satisfaction which you won’t get in a rented house. Also, we don’t need to change our residency again and again and it becomes our identity. In long run we make social links from families around in our neighborhood. We get to know each other which gives us social support. In case of emergency conditions we can call them or we can also help them if they need us.
It’s pretty difficult to find good quality of housing in my community. I’m living in Flushing, Queens and it’s almost so much difficult to find any apartment at all. You don’t see any person leaving that area. You just see that people coming in and getting an apartment. I see people occupying apartment in my building but I see no one leaving it. My father once asked a broker that if there are any apartments near our area for two rooms available and the broker said to him that there are no apartments available with two rooms and all are occupied. Even though rents are very high people still take it maybe because it’s nearby a commercial area. You always have to adjust in whatever house you get in New York. You get small houses, noisy neighbors and sometimes they are so far from commercial areas that you have to walk to the bus station for a half mile or so.
What health benefits might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing? Having affordable and quality housing plays a major part in an average adult life. Having a home is a sense of security. With housing being secure and affordable a person mental state is able to be secure as well. Having affordable housing determines the quality of life you as the head of household is able to provide for your family. Entering a house you should feel warm, cozy and nothing but love but with the head of household stressed out because they are always trying to figure out how are they going to be able to pay rent next month it is going to reflect on them and the people living in the house.
How does home ownership (or its lack) affect conditions in your community? Home ownership affects the community presentation. People who own a home tend to have pride in their home and will take care of their home differently than a renter. A renter will usually rely on the landlord to fix the home, plant flowers in the yard, mow the yard and just keep up with the upbringing of the home.
How easy or difficult is it to find quality, affordable housing in your community? I live in a middle class neighborhood community. There are mostly houses in my neighborhood and usually two family homes. With that being said the average home in my neighborhood has about 2-3 or more people living in the home making it affordable for the home owner. Via census information the average person in my neighborhood makes at least $40,000 and up so the housing should be affordable to all living in the neighborhood.
Q.1 What health benefits might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing?
Health benefits of quality secure housing would be less stressful, not having to worry about affordable housing and being able to keep up with rent or missing a payment and potentially ending up homeless, if you know your living situation is stable and secure that is one less thing to worry about. In fact, quality housing allows one to use their house or apartment as an investment for years to come, and keeps the cost of living to a minimum. When you feel more secure in your life then you feel more confident and make better choices. Unlike, Poor quality houses and apartments fall apart fast, which could lead to sickness, debt or a myriad of mental stresses.
Q.2 How does home ownership (or its lack) affect conditions in your community?
In my community home ownership means for a better environment. People tend to care about where they live, their surroundings, the roads, and the politics of the town. Home ownership helps to create a warm and friendly bond in my community. This is because most of the people who own homes in my community have done so for years, so they know each other very well and their children grow up together closely. This helps my community to be a very peaceful place. Whereas a lack of home ownership dismisses those issues. People living in those areas don’t have as good as surroundings, the roads, and school, the police station. It is not that they don’t care, it is matter of how wealthy are they. or they feel like they have control over what goes on around them. Owning something definitely sets a certain mindset for the individual.
Q.3 How easy or difficult is it to find quality, affordable housing in your community?
Nowadays it is very challenging to find quality housing because the cost of rent has gone up dramatically. The good neighborhoods, in which crime rates are lower, have seen an increase in rent prices. competitive apartments are less likely to be found in decent sizes, and also rentals spaces have decreased to allow more people to rent. consequently, the lack of affordable housing push many families with limited income toward substandard housings located mostly in unsafe and overcrowded neighborhood characterized by high level of crimes, high rate of poverty and very limited resources that promote health such as green spaces, parks and recreational centers. What’s more, it has become so competitive to find good apartments that owners have resorted to bidding, or requiring credit checks before renting to someone. nowadays The cost of rent is so high even if you are living in queens you are paying way more what you had paid last 8 years ago. for illustration, when I came in USA 8 years ago, I remember my family was used to pay rent $1000 monthly. However, now you would have to pay around $2000 in order to get apartment in good neighbor. In conclusion, I would say it is extremely challenging to find quality, affordable house in the community as of now as well as in the future.
1. The benefits that can derive from affordable and secure housing is stress relief, heart aches and anxiety. People who can’t afford to pay rent and struggle to provide for their family tend to have a lot of health issues. Some of these health issues such as anxiety can spring from stress of not being able to meet ends meet every month for rent. If there is affordable housing based on a a persons income, it allows them to “breathe” better and not worry sick about paying a huge amount of money which they can’t afford. A secure housing provides safety and surety to a person and there family. This can help a family and prevent them from worrying about there neighborhood and troubles.
2. Home ownership affects community a whole. A person who purchases a house can rent some of his property to someone else who would pay a monthly rent to him. This can help the owner of the house to pay off his mortgage and also the individual who is renting, can have a place to live.
3. In my community it is hard to found affordable housing due to the amount of people that lives the area. A lot of family’s are in need of more this one bedroom apartments. There is very little affordable housing around my place due to the high demand. There are however houses owned by landlords but they are not considered to be affordable due to the price made by the owner and demand of the people.
The health benefits that can derive from affordable, quality and secure housing, in terms of affordability it means that one is living within their methods and there might be more money to take better care of their health and to buy nutritious and quality food rather living with the fear of paying utilities bills and mortgage. In addition, having a secure and quality house can be less stressful since you don’t have to worry about being robbed or not having the facilities you desire while living in the house such as not living without electricity, air condition and heating during winter. Home ownership affects the community in various ways. For example people who own the house they manage their place differently than people living on rent. Owner mostly have his house cleaned from outside to inside since he is the one living in the house and has to make sure that he doesn’t get a violation. On the other hand, people living on the rent don’t really care since they rely on their landlord. Being an owner of the house can be stressful but not as much as he would if he living as a tenant. I believe is it very difficult to find quality, affordable housing in my community. It’s either or, in my opinion, if the housing is affordable then the quality of the house is not good and if the quality is good then it’s really expensive. Nowadays you can’t find an apartment for $1000 and if you do then you cannot be sure about the neighborhood to be better or secured. The standard of cleanliness and building maintenance is not the same, as it was used to be although rent have been raised. If people cannot afford their homes, they may be forced to skimp on some other basic needs such as, food and clothing. And if people are pinching pennies, they’re not spending money in the stores, restaurants and other businesses since they are very limited with money. As a result, I think there are higher chances of having poor and inadequate housing within my community.

Moreover, fast food restaurant tend to be plentiful in low income neighborhood because residents living in those areas usually can only afford cheap food. As a result, people living in low income areas are more likely to suffer from obesity than those who live in quality neighborhood.

• What health benefits might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing? Affordable housing will give people the opportunity to have a more positive way of living. Having to pay a lower amount of money people would have less stress in their lives. People would have more money left to invest in their health such going to family vacation, joining a fitness club, even money for their children to attend college.
• How does home ownership (or its lack) affect conditions in your community? In NYC every house owner is on their own. People are always doing their best to keep up with NYC regulations that they don’t have time to keep up with others. I rent an apartment in Woodside, the owner is from China. Mr. Chu is the person responsible of recycling, making sure the front is clean, no one park in his parking space and so on. As the owner from the house he makes sure his tenants are taking care by providing heat, hot water, and gas and always helping to fix anything that goes wrong. Home owners are responsible people and that gives a positive effect in the community.
• How easy or difficult is it to find quality, affordable housing in your community? Nowadays is very hard to find affordable housing. In my area you must meet all the requirement before doing the application. You must have a high credit score, taxes, social security, and a three month rent. If you have children is very difficult since the apartments around my community are small. No pets allowed, I had to give my puppy because the owner wouldn’t accept pets. The rent for one bedroom can range from 1.300- 1,500 a two bedroom 1700-1900. Rent in NYC is expensive!!
1. A health benefit that derives from affordable housing is relief of stress. Relief of stress because one would not have to worry about not having enough money to pay rent, or living in an uncomfortable and crowded place. Money can then be invested in better health care without having to worry about being unable to pay rent or mortgage.
2. Home ownership affects conditions in the community positively. My parents are homeowners and they are very responsible people. They make sure to clean the side walk in front of the house so no one gets hurt. Keep up with the house regulations so our tenants live comfortably. As well as make the yard appealing to look at. Being able to rent to other people helps pay off the house and other bills.
3. It is getting more and more difficult to find affordable housing in my community. My family was lucky enough to find a house at a cheaper price. I’ve seen many people move in and out of the neighborhood due to the rise in rent. My neighborhood has changed drastically. It is no longer as diverse as it used to be. I see more caucasian people moving in and people of different ethnicities moving out. Even smaller stores are closing down due the competition with bigger businesses.
• What health benefits might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing?
I believe that it would start with emotional wellness which would eventually translate into a healthier physical constitution. Affordable yet quality housing would also mean that the family is able to concentrate on other wellness tasks and financially invest on other necessities such as food, clothing, schooling, entertainment, etc.
• How does home ownership (or its lack) affect conditions in your community?
From what I know, most of my neighbors own the homes that they currently live in, and I must say that being a home owner inspires certain responsibilities from a person. To put this into perspective, once when a report of suspicious individuals lurking around our neighborhood surfaced, people from our neighborhood passed the word around for everyone’s safety, and one neighbor who turned out to be a cop volunteered to bring it up to the precinct. I guess this collective attitude was borne out of the desire to protect one’s family and home.
• How easy or difficult is it to find quality, affordable housing in your community?
I am not really knowledgeable about the conditions around my community, but I once volunteered for an NGO that helps under privileged minorities in the Bronx. To say that it was difficult is an understatement–the waitlist for housing lotteries were a mile long, shelters were either full or understaffed, or it was just plain challenging to qualify for a slot. Also, to qualify for Section 8 is another trial.
The benefits that might derive from affordable and secure housing are less stress and stability. When a low income family is struggling to meet ends meet and provide for their family they are working 2-3 jobs To accomplish that. With the stress of multiple jobs and the stress that if one of these jobs falls through then they might have to live on the street. This would also put the mental health of the children at risk because instead of bonding with with both of their parents they just wonder when daddy and mommy are coming home from work next.
Home ownership does not really play a huge part in my community because it’s mostly apartments for rent in my area. Nobody is comparing the land they own, they just compare to see who has the cheapest rent. Now the neighborhood over is filled with houses so you have two sides of the coin relatively close together. On the side where I live you have the good ole’ New York charm. On the other side it has a suburban feel to it.
It is very difficult to find affordable housing. Within the neighborhood I believe there are only 2 housing facilities in the entire area and the rest of the neighborhood is just for rent apartments. I believe the going rate for a two bedroom is 1500 or higher. So for a decent apartment for a family of four its going to be 18,000 a year on rent alone.
• What health benefits might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing?
The health benefits from owning a house anywhere causes less stress of paying rent monthly and worrisome of not providing the best living environment for the children. As I learned throughout the course, stress can affect the body causing medical conditions, such as, higher tension, heart diseases, diabetes and many more.
• How does home ownership (or its lack) affect conditions in your community?
I believe that homeowners in every community look out for each other. They can report any suspicious activities to the authorities and tell each other to look out for certain things. Also, most of the homeowners that have the tenants do a background check to make sure the tenants are responsible people. I think that it is a good idea to have a background check for their own sake and the neighborhood.
• How easy or difficult is it to find quality, affordable housing in your community?
Well it can be a bit difficult in my community because the structure of the housing are a bit old and have small spacing for an affordable price or it can be nice and spacious for a higher price.
• What health benefits might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing?
Having affordable, quality and secure housing may be beneficial to someone’s health because it will reduce the stress that may have been caused from being unsure about a living situation, and also leave more money to spend on living a healthy lifestyle rather than worrying about expensive rent every month.
• How does home ownership (or its lack) affect conditions in your community?
My area consists of mostly apartment buildings, but a few blocks down is considered the Queens area where there are more houses than apartments. The area with the houses looks much nicer and well kept than the area with the apartments and I believe this is because home owners are more responsible with their houses since they have invested a lot into them.
• How easy or difficult is it to find quality, affordable housing in your community?
A few years ago it might have been less difficult to find an affordable apartment in my area, but now rent is more expensive. I’ve noticed many people are deciding to rent rooms in my area rather than apartments because they can’t afford to pay the high rent.
1.What health benefits might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing?
The health benefits that come affordable, quality and secure hosing is a positive effect on the person health on the aspect that the person will be mentally and physically less stressed. Having affordable housing, the person is able to save more money and will be able to take care of themselves a lot better. Having a home that is affordable not only gives the person a sense of security since the home is theirs , but able to give themselves and their family a better quality of life. It is a relief knowing the rent is something less to worry about because it is getting pay, oppose to someone who does everything that is possible to get it pay and easily forget their health. When there are better finance maintenance people are able to buy healthier food as well make better life choices when it comes to their health.
2. How does home ownership (or its lack) affect conditions in your community?
Home ownership (or its lack) affect conditions in my community several ways. In my community there are mostly apartments which leads to many people living together in the same building. People are more worried in paying rent then having a home. There is a lot movement around my community, a lot of schools around the neighborhood because the high amount of people that live around the neighborhood. Everyone is basically crowded together, with expensive rent to pay, every month a notice is sent to everyone that the rent is due and if not pay can lead to eviction. I believe if a lot more people had their own home in my community there will be less crowded and people will actually be able to built a home, oppose to paying rent and fear of eviction. Home ownership is a huge responsible, but lets stress for fact that people will not have to pay monthly and able to invest in building a great home for themselves and a place to called truly home.
3.How easy or difficult is it to find quality, affordable housing in your community?
It is very difficult to find quality affordable housing in my community it is expensive and only getting higher. Living in New York your lucky if you find affordable housing because in New York now it is so expensive for people to live here that many move to other states since rent is skyrocketing through the roof. I live in a very good apartment but my parents work really hard including to my brother to afford the rent, since we live in 3 bedroom apartment. We make it work by setting a budget and knowledge the other bills to pay so everyone pays something. My community is really nice but a little crowded but make it a lot affordable will empower people to help make their community a lot better.
What health benefits might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing?
If a person has affordable, quality, and secure housing they are more likely to be healthier than a person who does not have this. This is because they are less likely to be stressed. A person who does not have secure housing is going to constantly worry and it will take a toll on their body. Their mental health would also be at risk. They may become depressed because the conditions in which they are living are bad.
How does home ownership (or its lack) affect conditions in your community?
Home ownership is important because everyone needs shelter in order to survive. If you do not have a home you are most likely not going to be healthy. People not having a home affects many communities. There are a lot of homeless people and they have nowhere to go. Most of them sleep on the streets and people do not like that. A community with a large amount of homeless people seems to be looked at as a bad neighborhood.
How easy or difficult is it to find quality, affordable housing in your community?
In my community it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to own a home because rent is high since I live near a huge tourist attraction and it seems like every six months a new apartment complex is being built. Families who used to own home are selling their house for lower than the house is actually worth.
1). The health benefits that may derive from affordable, quality and secure housing are less stress, availability to natural resources, and stability. What I mean by less stress, is that when you are able to afford your home, it is less worry on your mind and body. If you live in affordable housing you most likely have health insurance too. By affording a home, availability to natural resources is a health benefit, by having clean water to drink and wash with. Having control over your own heat and air conditioning is a major health benefit. The stability of owning your home, is knowing you can live there until you decide you want to move, rather than renting and worrying about the landlord deciding one day to evict you, or raising the rent where you cannot afford to live there anymore.
2). Home ownership affects conditions in my community in a good way. Majority of housing in my community are single, semi-attached, town houses and even mansions. There are no apartment buildings in my community, but there are some one bedroom apartments in houses. They are usually not large enough for a family to live in, they are better for singles or couples. These apartments are hard to come by, most people usually rent to someone they know. Within my community, most people owning their homes have nice landscaping, they take pride in owning their homes. Sometimes you might notice a house with an overgrown lawn, these homes might be rented homes and they pay rent and do not put any extra money into the property. There are a lot of older Victorian homes in my community as well, mostly owned by the elderly and they need renovations. These conditions of ownership are varied. I live in a semi-attached home, my townspeople take care of their homes in different ways, but overall its a nice community to live in.
3). In my community it is very easy to find quality housing but very difficult for it also to be affordable. Around here you need a good job to own a home. Most have to buy a house, which requires a lot of investing. However where I live there is no demand on apartments for families.
Owning a house frees the person from the stress of paying rent and the money that most people use for rent can either go in healthy eating or probably in the savings. The rent money an also go towards planning a vacation to get a break from the hectic routine.Owning a house or lacking a home can greatly impact how your friends and family sees you and it can also greatly impact the decision of getting married and starting a family.Affordable housing is a very big challenge these days as some places ask for a lot a checks like high credit, less family members and the rent is very high. The requirements get tougher once you decide to buy a house and the prices in NYC are dramatically higher than any other places which makes it hard to even consider buying a house here.
1) What health benefits might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing?
As a result of affording a house, is a commodity of secures by not having so much stress paying a rent every month and having the thought that for what are you paying will never be your property. What is more, you will have the sense of be safe at your own place to live. Besides, owning a house will bring a feeling of content because you will inherit to your offspring. Therefore, you will not be worry about leaving them on the street striving in paying rent every month.Additionally, in this case the health benefits will also include in affording a house. By affording a house, you will be out of stress, that will cause disease as for example chronic disease that will be suffering from diabetes, strokes, hearth attack etc.
2) How does home ownership (or its lack) affect conditions in your community?
I think be a home ownership will affect the community in a positive and in way. A positive way will be caring so much about the issues that your community is living, could be as a example a dangerous place, of course, you want a safe place that you will inform anything suspicious activities to the police or any means that will help you to secure your are.
How easy or difficult is it to find quality, affordable housing in your community?
As in the community that I live, a difficult way to afford a house will be the economic. The hosing are way so much expensive in the are of New York. Additionally, the job where I’m working will not give me that freedom of paying a house.
What health benefits might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing?
It is said that people with a higher standard of living are better equipped to manage stress on a day to day basis. These people don’t have the constant worry about living paycheck to paycheck or asking themselves is my home going to be there tomorrow. These people are not only financially stable, but physically also because of the good supportive environment they have been brought up on.
How does home ownership (or its lack) affect conditions in your community?
First of all, just by owning a home is a huge accomplishment. Whether it is your first apartment or first house, you should take pride in what you have achieved to get to this point. Having said all that, I am thankful to my parents who I currently reside with in a house. I also appreciate that I live in a community where everybody knows each other and is very much open and friendly.
How easy or difficult is it to find quality, affordable housing in your community?
It depends what you are actually in the market looking for. If your looking to buy an affordable house in my neighborhood, your chances are slim to none because as the years have gone by, the real estate market in New York has done well as opposed to other markets in other states, where they seem to decline. Rentals have followed the same pattern. Rates are continuously going up every so often for rental properties. Apartments which used to be affordable are becoming more and more expensive to inhabit. You can call it the age of gentrification. Everywhere you look there are new buildings popping up or being renovated. What do you expect, this New York after all. I guess the only way you are able to find affordable housing is if you actually move out from New York.
• What health benefits might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing?
Many health benefits come from an affordable, quality and secure housing. The main benefit would be the lack of stress one would feel in this type of home. This is mainly because since it would be affordable, one would not have to stress about barely meeting expensive rent from the money they earn working. In addition, a quality and secure house might reflect on the neighborhood. This means people can engage in many social interactions in a nice community, rather than having to worry about crimes. A quality household would boost the esteem of the household because living in a household with many problems would affect a person’s stability (For example, no hot water, or heat, infestations).
• How does home ownership (or its lack) affect conditions in your community?
The lack of home ownership in my community gives the community a more urban/ghetto feeling. The majority is apartment buildings. It feels very different from the suburbs. The suburbs have backyards with nice furnishing details (at least from the outside). There are some houses in my neighborhood and I feel like there’s more creativity and freedom when it comes to making your home, whereas if you’re renting an apartment, it’s very limiting.
• How easy or difficult is it to find quality, affordable housing in your community?
In my community, I think it truly depends on a person’s perspective, depending on their income and preference. Overall, from people that I know, the majority is solely based on applying to some form of plan like Section 8 or affordable housing, which are not guaranteed approval and take years to process. Not everyone can apply to these kinds of plans because it depends on many factors, mainly income. Without applying to some form of housing plan, getting quality and affordable housing is very difficult as rent is very costly, varying from neighborhood to neighborhood.
Some health benefits from affordable housing would be stability. Knowing you have a home to go to at the end of your work day is relieving. Stressing about if you have enough for the end of the month rent would be high. Also, having a home would mean youre less susceptible to sickness, especially in the winter. Living outside is harsh and being expose to everything all the time cant impact your health in a positive way. Lastly, having clean water to use, being able to wash your clothes and brush your teeth would also be a health benefit.
Home ownership in my community would mean everyone would strive to make their house look nice and taking care of it. If everyone owned a house in the community, itll I know, owning a house means major tax returns at the end of the year so that would be a benefit. Also, if i owned a house rather than renting at an apartment, I would feel more safe and welcome in the community. There is something suspicious when living in an apartment and that you always have to be on guard.
It is neither hard or easy to find affordable housing in my community. Having that it turned into an zone A for flooding after hurricane sandy, prices went down but it still isnt for low income. Houses in my community usually consists of like 3 floors and have driveways.
The health benefits that might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing is there will be less stress on the family. If the family is able to afford housing and pay for it they don’t have to stress on not having a home to stay in. Also since it’s affordable and at least have some quality and a secure feel, the family are less likely to get sick from stress. Having home ownership means that the family are living a pretty decent life. If the community is a good community you will also experience a better life because of the good community and atmosphere which might help release stress and even the people around you. It is very difficult for me to find a good quality and affordable housing in my community because the prices on house are going up and the prices in New York is already really expensive. Also when you do find a good quality housing it’s usually a really high price which makes it very hard to afford.
What health benefits might derive from affordable, quality and secure housing.
Many human rights activist proclaim that housing is a human rights issue and should be guaranteed to all U.S. Citizens by our Constitutions. Housing, along with food and clothing is one of the most basis human needs. Housing has long been understood to be one of the most important social factors impacting physical and mental health well being. Lack of housing affects impoverished communities of color in the most sever ways. Lack of stable, quality housing can be linked to a person’s quality of life and overall health conditions. Those individuals who lack stable, quality housing are more likely to develop airborne infectious diseases, allergies and asthma. Person without stable housing often suffer from depression, hypertension and diabetes because they’re mental and physical health is affected as a result of stress and pressure for fear of ending up homeless. Stable and affordable housing supports emotional and mental health by decreasing financial related stress because people move less frequently or allowing families to move into neighborhoods with quality recreational and educational programs. The availability of affordable, quality and secure housing significantly increases financial resources in a household, which can be used to pay for quality food, exercise programs and preventative health care.
