JFEW Internship at Kings County Hospital (June 2018 – July 2018)
The Jewish Foundation for Education of Women (JFEW) is a scholarship program that helps goal-oriented women meet their educational and career pursuits by relieving financial burdens and providing opportunities for professional development. As a JFEW Scholar, I was given the opportunity to work in a hospital dental clinic to gain additional professional experience. I was assigned to work at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at the Kings County Hospital during the summer of 2018. During my commitment of 280 hours, I was able to work with the Registered Dental Hygienist, dental attendings, residents, and assistants. I saw 300+ patients and personally treated 190+ patients under general supervision – some interesting cases include treating pregnant women, partially edentulous patients, and patients with implants/bridges. It was a very rewarding accomplishment as I was able to treat patients with care and listen to their stories.

CUNY Explorers Internship at NYCCT (February 2019 – Present)
The CUNY Explorers Program was created with the goal to offer campus visits to public school seventh grade students. It promotes college awareness and internalizes the message that college is for everyone and is quite affordable. As a CUNY Explorer Visit Guide, my task is to conduct weekly campus tours to groups of middle school students. Through this experience, I have honed my interpersonal, communication, time-management, and problem solving skills – all of which are transferable skills to the dental hygiene setting.
