1)  Begin class by posting a comment to this entry talking about one of the sample resumes you found. What is good about this resume? What are its strengths and weaknesses? If the resume is specific to your field, what elements should you try to include in your own resume? I found the resume above to be interesting. one of the reasons, is because it touches base on everything a help desk technician basically needs to know. I like the fact that this person, is very skilled in what she does. 5 years of experience of providing pc and client/server tech support, should be enough to get any job in the IT field. she also had experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues with hardware maintenance. in my opinion, I think I would hire someone matching the skills and experience of this person. she also have some important certifications and qualification

Catherine Paczkowski – sample resumes

Print Production Manager – Karen M. Morris

Strengths: Very clean looking resume – balanced and very clean looking.

Weaknesses: not sure.

Insert Production Manager – Antoinette Redick

This resume’s strengths: Provides an overview of main responsibilities before listing more specific details of each job description. Sections are well delineated – resume layout is balanced and has a clean appearance.

Weaknesses: Not sure if positioning the information in “Additional Information” section at the bottom of the resume is advantageous. I would put this information first, before the “Work Experience” section as important skills an employer would be looking for are here.

Advertising Services Director – Robyn Cohen

This resume’s strengths: Layout is very clean looking and sections are well delineated.

Weaknesses: Not sure if this resume would scan correctly – uses “*” symbol in front of each job description segment. This resume is very verb heavy – if scanned into a database not sure enough keywords are available to fulfill a search by employment officer. It needs more noun keywords.

Not sure if this is positive or negative – resume has only two sections besides heading.
