CAREER ENGAGEMENT

LAST UPDATED ON 5/22/24.

Welcome to ACE’s career education and engagement page.  Here you will learn about your semester career benchmark requirement, career programming, how to engage with our career team, and the competencies (skills) employers want from all college graduates, regardless of major.  Our goal is to help you get career ready.

It is important to start preparing for your major’s Internship requirement early on. ACE student’s have the support of our Career Specialist and their department’s internship coordinators to prepare for the internship requirement.

What is Career Readiness:

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), “Career Readiness is the attainment and demonstration of essential skills that prepare you for a successful transition into the workplace.”

Your Career Requirement:

As an ACE student, you are required to meet with our career specialist, Perihan Sharpe, once per semester!

There are THREE ways to meet your Career Requirement:

  1. One-on-one 30 minute meeting (in-person, Zoom or phone) with our career specialist.
  2. Attend a Career Workshop. A series of rotating workshops facilitated by our career specialist and career peer.  Our workshops focus on building a basis such as a resume and cover letter writing. Workshops booked through Acuity open for registration 2-3 weeks into each semester.
  3. Attend a Career Event. Our events and discussions spotlight various career professions allowing you to network with professionals while strengthening your career competencies.

However, to truly develop or strengthen the essential skills all employers want, we employ you to continually participate in many diverse career programs via ACE or Career Development Center.
