OpenLab #2: Technology Survey

Please complete the following survey no later than this Thursday, March 2nd.

MAT 2680 Technology Survey

Part of this course will introduce numerical solution methods for differential equations - these methods can generate extremely accurate approximate solutions when implemented on a computer. This survey is intended to give an indication of which technological tools you are most familiar with.

Professor im having trouble with the Homework?
Question 1 from the 6b set.
What is the terminal velocity of the object?
    how do i calculate that?

    • Jonas Reitz

      Hi Gabriel,

The terminal velocity is the equilibrium solution to the differential equation – is the velocity v at which the forces of gravity (pulling downward) and air resistance (pushing upward) are balanced, so the velocity remains constant. You can find it by setting dv/dt equal to 0 in your differential equation, and solving for v.

Hope this helps – let me know if you are still stuck.
      Best,
      Prof. Reitz
