My name is Denys, and my pronouns are he/him. I was born on April 9th 2003, in Ukraine. Ever since I was born, my life was leading up to my move to America. It all started when I was 3 years old, when my parents and my grandparents decided to apply for family reunification. Our application had finally been confirmed after twelve years of waiting. My dream finally came true when I was fifteen years old. I left my relatives and friends from my country. It was difficult for me to uproot my life and leave what I had. Everything was so different compared to my old country and small city, where everyone knew everyone. My move helped me grow as a person because I couldn’t be a kid anymore, not only for myself, but for my parents who relied on me too. I am responsible for myself and my life, and I can’t ever let down the people who moved here to give me the opportunity of a better future.
A place that is meaningful to me is Bushkill Falls. It releases all negative emotions and waterfalls make me happy. There is nothing quite like a waterfall, they are naturally beautiful. I know that I could sit and watch waterfall for hours. The moments from this experience is so special that I will remember this experience for the rest of my life.
Welcome, Denys! You tell a riveting tale here about your emigration to the States. My great grandmother on my father’s side is from Ukraine, but I have never been. I would love to learn more about it from you. I have never been to Bushkill Falls and just looked it up. Very pretty!
