âQuestioning Authorityâ in Meszaros’s reading may refer to the fact that undergraduates sometimes challenge faculty, librarians and professors and rely more on friends, parents and just people sitting next to them. They often question the authority of professors and follow instructions only because of grade purposes. Students donât see librarians and libraries as part of the learning process, instead the regard them as authoritative figures. Even though students are taught to question and not to accept everything as truth until proven, their inability to distinguish the role of librarians, they go as far as questioning the authority of authors for the work they publish. They also rely more on their opinions than factual knowledge. If faculty, librarians and professors join forces, as suggested in the reading, it would easier to yield students in using library resources and change their attitude towards authoritativeness.
