Hello and welcome, my name is Yahya Salim and this is my E-Portfolio.
A little about me- I’m easy going and a happy person. I have large family with 6 siblings, 5 brothers and 1 sister. The dental filed was not my initial choice for a career, but that changed when I came across information about the dental hygiene program at NYCCT. I applied to the program and was accepted in 2018. I’m the first person in my family to graduate college. Prior to entering NYCCT dental hygiene program I had no experience in the field of dentistry, which made it challenging to navigate through school, work and social life. I was very determined, developed love for the field and was able to overcome the most grueling obstacles. With years of experience in the family retail business I developed great communication and adaptive skills, which complimented my dental hygiene experienced obtained in NYCCT. While studying Dental Hygiene at NYCCT, I’ve improved on my detailed and problem solving skills. I grew to become more flexible and confidence in my abilities. I strive to further my education and obtain qualities to better myself and become a more trustworthy and hospitable dental hygienist that patients and employers can rely on.
