One of the highlights of my dental hygiene program was attending the 2019 Greater New York Dental Meeting. At the GNYDM my class had the opportunity to partake in Colgate smiles where we educated the children on good oral hygiene practices.
My personal role for that day was as a circulating assistant. My duties included monitoring the children for the entire day and guiding them from station to station. At each station, I assisted my colleague that was positioned at the station. At the different stations they learned nutrition, tooth brushing technique and heard an educational song on tooth brushing.
It was a great experience working with children as we were not presented with many pediatric cases. It is surely a fond memory that I will take with me when I graduate from City Tech.
