Dental Hygienist need to be able to identify and catch any oral abnormalities and pathology, and convey their findings to the dentist. Being able to catch these abnormalities and diseases early on and with good monitoring will lead to better outcome. We learned many oral pathology in class, and the condition I perform my research paper on is ranula. A ranula is a clear or bluish fluid collection or cyst, also known as a mucocele, that forms in the lower part of the mouth under the tongue. More information can be found in the link below.
