I graduated from Queens Technical High School with a CTE Endorsed Advanced Regents Diploma. Along with my diploma I obtained the following certifications:
- ETA (Electronics Technician Association)
- DC Electronics
- AC Electronics Theory
- Digital Electronics
- OSHA 30-hour General Industry Safety and Health
- C-Tech Telecommunications:
- Copper Based Network Cabling Certified
- Energy Management Systems
- Fiber Optics
The certifications that I earned in High School allowed me to gain a fundamental set of skills that were needed in the Industry. CTE provided me with the opportunity to learn more than just content related items. It provided me the opportunity to learn about the soft skills needed in the work environment.
I am currently taking classes at New York City College of Technology toward my bachelors in Career and Technical Education. I am a junior and I have 95 credits. In my major classes I learn about students with special needs, methods of teaching, assessing student outcomes, creating a curriculum, creating a rubric, creating assignments, creating tests, creating a lesson plan and much more! The major classes allow me to start creating resources for the classes I may potentially teach.
