Trigger Keyword’s algorithmic functions are similar to a thesaurus to give you similar words  to help you decide and narrow the topic you want to focus on. Each result yields words which is a mask to links to other websites, databases, and library catalogs that are specific to the topic in order of relevance. This serves two functions: to cut down on the time taken to choose a topic and doing the actual research.

Trigger Keyword works best using a simple search of one or two keywords, not long phrases or sentences. For example, you know you want to write your research paper on a broad topic like “Racism” but don’t know what subtopic of “Racism” you want to put your main focus on. When you search with Trigger Keyword it uses an algorithm to produce a word cloud of similar results such as “Segregation,” “Jim Crowism,” “Sexism,” or even “Authoritarianism.” You might not have thought that some of those other topics relate to “Racism” and you might find one of those other topics of  more interest to write your paper on.
