How can we create our own text styles in AutoCAD?
Standards CCSS.MATH.HSG-GPE.B.7 – Using coordinates to prove simple geometric theorems algebraically

CCSS.SCI.RST.11-12.4- Determine the meaning of symbols key terms, and other domain-specific words and phrases as they are used in specific/ scientific context.

Performance Objectives  SWBAT

  • Create their own text styles in AutoCAD
  • Adjust their texts to meet preferences and guidelines.
Motivation   What are some things that set us apart from each other?

We have things such as our fingerprints, and our facial features, but one thing that sets a lot of us apart from each other is our handwriting or our penmanship. Some of our handwriting better than others, but it still sets apart from each other.

Do Now (optional) Type the following 2 sentences in AutoCAD. Must be Times New Roman size 1’ font

“ Sandy sold seashells by the seashore ”

“ Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally”

Launch of Lesson/Mini Lesson Q:Which students feel that they can explain what they did?

First, you must go to the annotate tab, then you have to click on the multiline text panel and go to manage text styles. Then it will take you to a new window which will allow you to modify the texts, and adjust the sizes to fit your needs.

This isn’t your first time seeing texts in CAD before so this will just be a quick review of the different texts  that we can use.

Font

The Font includes the Font name and Font styles.

Q:What are some different font styles?

A: Some font styles are bold, italics, and bold italic which is a combination of both.

Size

The Size is pretty self explanatory, We can use eit to adjust the height of our text an using the annotative tab just makes it scale to both out model and paper space.

Effects

The text styles effects just control how the text is perceived by the viewer.

Q:Who can infer based on its name what the width factor controls?

A: The width factor controls how wide our text is.

The oblique angle controls how slanted our text is. but

Q: What is another way we can slant our text?

We can use the Italics in our Font style.

after we created our text, we select New, then create our own name, and then we go on to use the text as we choose.

Creating the same text with multiple texts styles. Simple as just selecting the next text.

Summary Interview the person next to you. Type a paragraph in Times new roman Italics font size 1’, describing where you see yourself in the next 5 years must be 3-4 sentences, then copy that paragraph over and change it over to a font of your choice.Save and submit your entire DWG in the dropbox Aim #33.
Immediate Application Students will resume working on their floor plan, and creating their interior walls.
