Strategy 2: Integrating Student Support Resources
Goal: Implement a holistic model for student success that leverages existing successful student support programs, develop new forms of collaboration around student advising, and maximize the use of data for monitoring students’ progress and making decisions about interventions and strategies to support struggling students.

Student Success Center:
• Multilingual Student Success Center website in English & Spanish
• Faculty training and instructional materials for the new early alert system utilizing Navigate
• Academic Reboot program for students with an alert,
on probation, or on continued probation – Winter 2023, August 2023
• Compressed/Critical 3-hour pre-semester CT101 content workshop,
for students not enrolled in City Tech 101
• Hire, plan, and train Student Success Coaches for one-on-one appointments to all incoming FTIC students –July Summer 2023 outreach
• Financial literacy – hire coordinator, identify faculty advisor, secure sponsors from City Tech Foundation, brand & promote MoneyWi$e
• Support & coordination with allied initiatives – Summer onboarding & peer programs
• Other activities of the SSC – emergency resource coordination, active social media, furnishing & outfitting a welcoming space with a prominent front desk & signage
First-Year Experience:
• Research & collaboration – bi-monthly meetings of collaborative academic & student affairs steering committee, UT Austin 360 presentation, ATD conference team
• Identified summer experience for FTIC students as a critical priority & 3 basic components of the summer experience:
1) Student Success Coach
2) Orientation
3) City Tech 101
• 2021-22 campaign to address WN (never attended) grades
Peer Programs:
• Survey all City Tech peer programs & share data
• Hold annual meeting of peer program directors to share activities, resources, best practices
• Facilitate additional training
• Hold networking/recognition event for peer leaders
• Recruitment – launch web page listing programs, “interest form” for preliminary applications, communications to faculty/staff, digital signage, tabling at SLD event
• Recognition – graduation cords, certificates of achievement
EAB Navigate:
• Add case management to EMSA areas, potentially including Counseling, Financial Aid, Veterans
• Assign coaches from EMSA areas, potentially including Counseling,
Financial Aid, Veterans, SEEK, EDGE
• Use appointments campaigns more widely—currently just ASAP and SSC using frequently
• Funnel more communications through Navigate
• Expand alerts to mid-semester grades
Advising for Success:
• Establish working committee
• Recognize the role of “master advisors”
• Build comprehensive advisement resources and tools for faculty
• Include a concise “toolbox” specifically for faculty teaching FY students
