Heart Share

My Classmates and I had the opportunity to educate people with Intellectual disability that were high function at the Heart Share foundation. This was part of our public health course. We educated on brushing, flossing, and healthy dietary choices.

Autism Fair

Dear Prof. Dillon,

I would like to share with you that today Diana Macri and I participated in the Staten Island ‘Stand Together’ Autism Fair organized by SI Borough President’s office. It was a very big event and we met and spoke to James Molinaro (SI Borough President) and told him about our Dental Hygiene Program and Citytech. He and his staff were very welcoming.

Our senior evening student Samantha Griffith joined us and was involved in providing oral care education to parents and caregivers and children with disabilities, distributing educational information and oral care kits, hands-on demonstrations, and conducting our Dental Care Needs Survey. We had a great time and Samantha was amazing!

As you know, I am very proud of all our senior evening students, and Samantha especially. She is a wonderful person and a dedicated professional and I feel so accomplished to have contributed to her education experience and professional growth in our program.

I also would like to thank our Mr. Mahalko, who is always very supportive of our initiative and helped us with the home care products. People at the Fair today were so appreciative of those samples they received!

I am very happy to see that my humble community outreach project is beginning to take root and I am looking forward to grow it with the help of my colleague and dear friend Diana and our wonderful students.

Thank you for supporting me in my efforts from day one.

Best regards,

Anna
