Philosophy statement
Nursing requires the management of a plethora of duties regarding individuals and their health. Whether good or dire conditions, nurses have to take care of the patients. Sometimes the outcomes of their health can be for the worst, which can be difficult for anyone to cope with, especially if you have an active role in their care. However, this all comes with territory. Being a nurse requires being compassionate and having the mental strength and stability to deal with patients in their declining health with a positive demeanor. Being empathic and caring while being culturally sensitive to the patients and their families is also required.

Being a nurse is being a teacher, a supporter, patient advocate, a provider and so much more. The goals of being a nurse is helping a patient reach the highest goal set regularly and working together towards these goals with small interventions progressing gradually to their optimal health. As a nursing professional, my philosophy, which is inspired by Jean Watson, is to provide the best care in my capacity to help the improvement of my patient’s well-being. Being understanding and empathetic, while being a patient activist are a few of the many important roles that are necessary to be an effective nursing professional.
