In the story “A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings: A Tale For Children Gabriel Garcia Marquez” there’re many gothic characters that contribute to the meaning of the story. One of the characters is the “angel” the angel is a mysterious old man who is an angel but Father Gonzaga believes he might be a regular human being lying about his identity. In the story Peyalo and his wife Elisenda capture the angel that Payelo found in the courtyard. The characters in the story saw the Angel as another carnival person rather than respecting him. Payelo and Elisenda kidnapped the Angel and placed him in a chicken coop. When Elisenda saw that a lot of people were coming to see the angel she started charging 5 cents to everyone that came. While collecting that money the couple  raised a lot of money from the angel pain and miss fortune and constructed a house with all the money. Pelayo and Elisenda for me are the villain in the story because they took advantage of the angel and mistreated him and let others mistreat the angel for the money. In the story “The house of Asterion” Jorge Luis Borges the character plays a mysterious role where people in around him believe different things about him. The character enjoys being alone since for him he had a lot to do by himself in his house. In one paragraph he speaks about running after his shadow in the courtyard pool. The character is focusing a lot on the Asterion numbers and how time is calculated around him which is infinity. 

The plot point in the story “A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings” is at the end when the angel starts growing wings after being at the edge of death due to the winter temperatures. The angel hid his feathers growing and one day he flew away from the chicken coop. In the story “The house of Asterion” the gothic plot is every nine years nine men go to the house to be free from all their evil. He celebrates a ceremony to free them, he also heard them running through the galleries walls but can’t see them.

One of the Gothic settings in the story “A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings” is the chicken coop where the angel was kept. The chicken coop was visited throughout the day. In there the angel received bad treatment and even stones were thrown at him and burned with an iron because he wouldn’t show his wings. The gothic setting of the story “The house of Asterion” is a house with no doors which has infinity halls. The house is designed in a way that does not trap anyone. There’s a courtyard with a pool, a stone gallery. The house reminds me of a puzzle there’s a solution but you must work to find it.
