For our service learning project in Public Health my group presented a “Caries Awareness” PowerPoint for 36 preschool children at Royal International Day Care located in Flushing, Queens. We believed that targeting this population would be beneficial in promoting autonomous health behaviors as their centration of thought and memory begins to come in to play. The presentation was interactive with very simple wording appropriate for the audience. This experience was beneficial for my peers and I, as it gave us an idea of how to speak and treat pediatric patients of this age with dental education and also importantly how to work as a team.
