Graduating from a CTE high school opened a lot of doors for me,  and one of this doors was the Success Via Apprenticeship (SVA) Program which was established in 1984 as a collaborative project of the New York City Department of Education, the United Federation of Teachers (UFT), and the City University of New York (CUNY).

The program is designed to prepare highly motivated graduates of CTE high schools to become CTE teachers over a five year period. In order to prepare future CTE educators, the SVA program offers a diversity of opportunities including industry experience, teaching experience, and college.
