Virtual Field Trip

VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP-

The color blue comes in all shades, hues, and values. Different blues convey different emotions and feelings. Blue tints and dyes come from materials such as cobalt, ultramarine, cerulean, indigo, lapis lazuli, and cyan. The Blue exhibit in the Nassau County Museum of Art displayed many different artists, and works having to do with the color blue in a beautiful display. Cain and Abel by Odilon Redon is an example of one of the beautiful places in this exhibition. Redon created this painting in Paris based on a painting of two men fighting. This piece was created with pastels and makes use of phosphorescent blues that really pop.

A sculpture in this exhibit is the Venus Bleue. Yves Klein created this piece in 1962 out of dry pigment and synthetic resin on plaster. Even though it was created in 1962, it was not executed until 1982, well after Klein’s death, who lived 1928-1962. Antonio Santin actually created 3 pieces specifically tailored to the museum for the exhibit. One of these pieces was called the Tree of Life. He painted the oriental rug using blue highlights. The colors come from leaves of wood and indigo. Symbolism in oriental rugs can mean truth, honesty, and peace in the afterlife.
