This semester’s winner of the Inaugural Honors Scholars Panel Presentations:
Damani Douglass: The Ones Still Home– Imprisoned Photography
The goal of this presentation is to use photography to depict the numerous struggles of a fragmented black man growing into his own, with his father behind bars. To give black men growing in single-mother households, due to the incarceration of their fathers, an opportunity to connect with each other and create spaces of transformative change and support. I want to give black men that can relate to this project a moment to feel seen, amongst the worldly issues that push their struggles to the bottom of the social-justice barrel. I will also use audience feedback to inform the larger documentary project, along with the photos themselves in the film.
