Prevention of Denture Stomatitis in a Geriatric Population

-A simulated public health project was created to address and solve the issues of lack of hygiene maintenance and knowledge regarding the care of dental removable appliances, dentures. The geriatric population, 65+ was targeted at the senior living facility in Yonkers was lacking the information, thus the education lecture was developed and presented, as well as demonstrated to the residents of the senior living facility, and additional samples and instruction were provided to all residents. The primary goal was to reach a satisfactory level of hygiene when it comes to removable dentures.

Dilaceration & Accessory Root education presentation 

-The presentation educated listeners on the common oral manifestations of root abnormalities which included dilaceration (aka dancing roots) or accessory roots (extra roots). The following information is important to the dental hygienist profession in order to be able to identify such abnormalities and explain the risks of such root development to the patient.
