Hi all,
If we divide this project into 3 phases, how dose the schedule of project look like?
Phase I: Food Waste (Summer 2013?)
Phase II: Data Mapping (Fall 2013?)
Phase III: Rat (Spring 2014?)
Masa
Food Waste Generation
+ Collected socieconomic parameters and waste data (Jeremy, Ben, Masa)
+ Creating a food waste distribution (Masa)
+ Developing Food waste generation model (Masa)
Data Mapping
+ Creating layers for food waste and rats using GIS or Google Map/earth (Ben)
Rat

+ Developing Agent Model for rats (Ben)
Any opinion?
Rat Information Portal The Rat Information Portal RIP provides information on rats in NYC. Use this site to make maps and learn about what you can do to prevent and manage rats.Rats can be a property, block or neighborhood problem and require a coordinated response: property owners, tenants, businesses and government need to work together. Please refer to “Working in Your Community” for more ideas. Whats New?Neighborhood-wide rat inspections spur property owner control measures, boost community clean-up, and are more effective than the old approach. Findings from the Bronx rat initiative are reported in the September 21, 2012, issue of the “Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report,” a national publication of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Please visit out our new online map and property look up tool.

Pied piper a plague risk?
Mostly about how small reservoirs can still carry epidemic disease
The computer model shows that plague can persist in very low rat populations (about 60,000) and spreads to humans only when some random event reduces rodent numbers. And it simulates what happens when there is a drastic reduction in rat numbers, caused by anything from mass poisonings to a strangely dressed man playing a hypnotic pipe.
Also, the 48 year “rat flood” know as the bamboo death that results in famine.
