How does gentrification contribute to the displacement of inner-city communities in NYC?

The displacement of members in the inner-city communities of New York City, are affected by gentrification for various reasons. The original community members who have lived in these areas are often excluded from these new amenities. The community will experience a shift of culture due to higher-income residents migrating into impoverished areas. Many members of the community will be driven out and displaced to other regions. Investors and landlords profit financially from the new wave of individuals entering the community. Moreover, the future developments become profit driven and not community driven.

*Gentrification is the process of renovating and improving a house or district so that it conforms to middle-class taste.
